We began working on the mindset that things are slow to process in Portugal a couple of years back. That is just the way it is.... Keeping this mindset has kept our sanity when we feel like everything is going wrong. That said, we were truly blown away by the speed with which this happened.
As we are starting the process for a D7, your detailed timeline is so helpfull (and encouraging, in regards to AIMA and residency). We’ll be in Portugal looking for a rental in the next two weeks, hoping to connect with a place like you did. I eagerly await your observations post!
Wow. Thank you so much for posting. We are heading over in December for scouting trip in the Silver Coast. Would it be possible to communicate directly with you about your experience and who you hired for help? Our reason for moving is exactly the same as yours although, unfortunately, we will still be here on Nov 5 and I don't have a good feeling at all. TBH, we're scared shtls.
I own an apartment in matosinhos because even if the “orange f**nugget” doesn’t win and goes away, his supporters remain…. But I’m going back and forth because I have a teenage daughter and her mom is delusional and doesn’t think “it can happen here”
I don’t look forward to dealing with the Portuguese Bureaucracy (I don’t even try to get anything other than mail delivered) but I’ll cope when the time comes.
Maybe mass deportations can include anchor babies like me, or maybe I can volunteer :)
We appreciate you sharing your journey with us. It gives a great sense of the inevitable ups and downs that are a part of this exciting experience. Such a nice way to start the day!
💕Just love all the detail you provide. I notice you sometimes apologize for writing extra long posts (as I skip along reading past posts.) I don’t believe you ever need to apologize, as for me (and I bet most of your readers), the length is still always packed with “quality.” I actually feel like I am in your shoes as you deal with all the minutiae of moving and settling in a new country! You are lucky, though, you have a loving partner to help and commiserate with, both the good and the bad. My only concern is, as a single woman, can I be as bold and prepared to jump ahead with just me, myself and I? Rhetorical question. Thank you for your interesting AND authentic posts, all of which are very helpful. 💕
☺️🥰 Thank Chris! Those who know me know well that I can be a bit verbose. But I tend to prefer reading details and not overviews. I am indeed fortunate to have a partner in crime to make this move happen, but I would never dissuade anybody from trying this on their own. Many people (especially single women) have managed to make it happen. You can absolutely be bold in this process.
Yoav and I learned much from others who did this before us, and we want/hope to be a resource when possible for those to follow us in this journey.
Parabens!
Obrigado! ☺️🥰
This made me smile and was a reminder
Sometimes things just move with ease & sometimes when we have little or no expectation & we just get on with living the stars align & it flows
I loved reading this thanks for a morning uplift
& to be fair mine once in the process arrived just as I was told x

❤️ I am thrilled the timeline was helpful. I hope your time here is productive and you find a great place. I will get that observations post out soon.

Thanks for the post
His supporters will be around for a while. What scares me even more if he wins, is JD being in charge when the "ofn" is finally deemed incapacitated.
The Portuguese bureaucracy hasn't been quite as bad as I anticipated, but then my exceptions have been set very low. 😂
Parabens! That is such great news!

🥰 Thanks! I am glad what I can share helps others in this process or thinking about this process.
